I am a resident at (Nursing Home Name) in your district. Thank you for all you do on behalf of Pennsylvania’s senior citizens. As a senior myself, I am writing to ask for your continued support by making sure the state budget adequately funds my nursing home and others in Pennsylvania.
I am grateful for the care I receive for my chronic conditions. My caregivers are wonderful people, and I know they have a challenging job caring for all of us. Everyone works to ensure we get and stay healthy, and that we enjoy a good life. I have made many new friends.
Those of us in nursing homes are there because we have become dependent on the aid of others to help us get through the day, or because we have medical conditions that require around-the-clock care. It is not something we ever thought about, but it happened. I was lucky to find the nursing home where I am now. I know others would say the same thing.
Please make sure Pennsylvania’s budget includes enough money to adequately fund nursing homes so they can continue to provide quality care to people who need it most — people like me and the friends I’ve made here. Thank you for your continued support.

I am a nursing home resident at (Nursing Home Name) in (City). I know I am just one of 80,000 residents in nursing homes across the state, but I think I can speak for all of us about the importance of ensuring adequate Medicaid funding in the state budget.
Moving to a nursing home is a very difficult and personal choice for families. When my health care needs became too challenging for me to safely live at home, my family and I looked at various nursing homes to find the one that fit my care needs. I am so thankful we found (Nursing Home Name), where I receive excellent care, have made many friends, and continue to live a full life through a range of activities and programs.
However, without adequate state funding, access to nursing home care may be in jeopardy for the people who need it most.
I hope you will think of me and the many current residents of Pennsylvania’s nursing homes, as well as those who will need this care in the coming years while you work to pass a state budget. Pennsylvania’s elderly population deserves access to the quality care of a nursing home where people can age with dignity and respect.
