Remember these tips for writing a successful letter to the editor:

  • Keep letters short – no more than 250 words
  • Personalize your letter – tell your community why you care about the issue you are righting about.
  • Be sure to include your contact information, including your name, mailing address and phone number. The newspaper will not publish this information, however, they will contact you to verify that you wrote the letter. If they cannot reach you, they will not publish it.
